Malcolm “Mac” Rowat January 8, 1939 - March 28, 2026

The family of Mac (Malcolm) Rowat is sad to announce his passing at Princess Court on March 28, 2026, at the age of 87 years. Mac was born in Dryden to Winnie and George Rowat on January 8, 1939.

He was predeceased by his parents, brother Chuck and wife Sally, brother Derek and wife Joanne, and his sister Carolyn Jean.

Survived by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn. Lovingly remembered by sons Brad and Mitch, grandchildren Tyler (Janessa) and Andrew. As well as his brother Russel.

Mac spent his entire life in Dryden, ON. Once he graduated High School, he worked at his father’s lumber business for many years. Later, he owned and operated the Town & Country Motel for 10 years at which time he retired to his 3 acres on Wabigoon Lake. He enjoyed fishing, boating, snowmobiling, motorbiking, with his family and friends. He spent 25 years as a volunteer firefighter for the town of Dryden.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to the staff at Princess Court for their compassionate care over the past 2 years.

As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that you spend time with your loved ones…

    I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Mac was an amazing man and a really great boss. He will be greatly missed but all who knew and loved him.

    It was a pleasure to have such a great neighbor for all those years. I would be out mowing grass and Mac would walk over with a beer in hand and one for me just when I needed one. Our Family will never forget you Mac. Our thoughts and prayers go out to carol and the family.
