Melvin Miner August 19, 1934 - April 3, 2026

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Melvin George Miner on April 3, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on August 19, 1934, in Fort Frances, Ontario, Melvin was a cherished son to George and Lillian Miner and a beloved patriarch to his large and loving family.

On May 18, 1960, he married the love of his life, Margaret Miller, marking the beginning of a beautiful partnership that spanned decades, until Margaret’s passing. They loved to travel and go camping. Sitting by the campfire enjoying a Bud was one of the favorite summer activities.

Mel was survived by Carrie (Wayne) Ewen, Daniel (Rachel) Miner, and Barry (Jackie) Miner and Brent Mudryk.

Mel was also a grandfather to Brandee, Kyle, and Carlee Ewen; Lauchie and Ron MacPherson; Scott (Amber) and Nick Miner; Ryan and Brooke Markham; and Hope and Samantha. Mel was also a great grandfather too, Mason and Ben Featherstone.

Mel’s community spirit was embodied through his 66 years as a dedicated member of the Legion. He was a regular at the Friday night meat draws.

His passion for bowling was well-known, as he competed in numerous local, zone, provincial, and out-of-province tournaments, creating lasting friendships and treasured memories along the way.

Mel was predeceased by his beloved wife Marg, his daughters Betsy and Melody, daughter-in-law Janice, his parents George and Lillian, and his sisters Ella Blaski and Ruby Armstrong.

A funeral service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #63, 34 Queen St. Dryden, ON P8N 1A1

To Mel’s family, my deepest condolences. Marg and Mel were such wonderful friends of my mom and dad. (Allan and Opal). They enjoyed bowling together, our families getting together, including camping trips and that great trip to Nashville.

My thoughts are with you and I hope our parents are bowling to country music in heaven!

    Take care

My condolences to the families. Many good memories of both your mom and dad growing up on Anton road. More so as he was a neighbour again with my mom at PC. On good days he could still recall I was a Robinson girl who grew up with his daughters. Love and peace to you all.

I’ve known the miner family for years. Played hockey with Danny and always saw Mel and Marg supporting both boys at the arena. Couldn’t ask for nicer people. I would always stop to say hi to Mel when he worked in the finishing room in the mill. Our families thoughts and prayers go out to the Miner family during this trying time in their lives.
