Janalee Ridgway January 19, 1961 - June 22, 2023

So I was the one with all the glory

While you were the one with all the strength

A beautiful face without a name for so long

A beautiful smile to hide the pain

Did you ever know that you're my hero

And everything I would like to be?

I can fly higher than an eagle

For you are the wind beneath my wings

It might have appeared to go unnoticed

But I've got it all here in my heart

I want you to know I know the truth, of course

I know it I would be nothing without you

Did you ever know that you're my hero?

You're everything I wish I could be

I could fly higher than an eagle

For you are the wind beneath my wings

Dedicated wife, loving grandmother/mother of two, caring sister, and friend to many – passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 22, 2023 at the age of 62.

Janalee (Jan), who loved to be called Memaw by her grandchildren (and tolerated being called Janie by her brothers), was born in Dryden, Ontario in 1961.

She was the third of six children in the Bousfield crew, and the only girl – which meant if nothing else, she had to be tough! And tough she was. You could always count on her to have your back when you needed it, and she was fiercely loyal to those she loved.

Speaking of those she loved – Jan had two children: Rachel, who has all of Jan’s sass and stubborn independence, and shares the same love and talent for art; and Sean, who embodies her generous and devoted spirit, and has the same big heart that she did. The best of her lives on through them.

Jan and the love of her life, Dan Ridgway, married in 1992 and spent over 30 years together as a family; eventually becoming proud grandparents to two beautiful girls, Willow, and Raina, who light their lives with joy.

Jan was a woman who enjoyed the simple things in life: loving on her pets, visiting with family and friends, watching movies, cooking, baking, berry picking, sewing, and painting. She was a talented artist, and one of the best cooks around. Some of her happiest memories are the summers when her friends, Mitch and Vicky and their daughter Beth (Tom, Sam) would come for a visit.

Jan was preceded in death by her Parents Frederick and Delores Bousfield, Grandfather and Grandmother Thomas and Lilian Henderson, Aunt Gayle, and beloved Nephew Tod. She is survived by her Husband, Dan, and their children Rachel (Kelly) and Sean (Crystal), Grandchildren Willow and Raina, and Brothers Bill (JoDee), Bob (Gayle), Raymond, Roland (Cherie), Ronnie, as well as numerous Nieces and Nephews.

Interment of her ashes will take place later this summer in a private ceremony with family and friends
