Craig Babij
April 2, 1961-June 4, 2023
It is with great sadness to announce the sudden passing of Craig Babij on June 4, 2023. Craig will be forever missed by his wife of 35 years Pauline Babij, children Melissa (Ben) Akis, Tania (Dell) Girdler and grandchildren Jordyn and Delaney. He will also be missed by his cousin Dan (Shirley), In-Laws Bill (Sandra), Yvonne (Blake), nieces Whitley (Niko), Erin, Amy (Austin), Brooke, nephew Brendan, as well as many extended family and friends.
Craig was predeceased by his parents Paul and Jean Babij, mother and father-in-law Irene and Gerry Altenburg, sister-in-law Lorraine Altenburg and Ron and Lyne Pollock.
Craig worked for the Dryden Paper Mill for close to 40 years and retired in 2020. He was very proud of his accomplishments at work. Nothing meant more to him than time at camp with his family and friends, as well as enjoying time outside by the fire with a beer and listening to nature. He also loved making trips to Thunder Bay to see his children, grandchildren and numerous ‘adopted’ children.
Craig took great pride when talking to others about his family, always putting us first. He also had a never ending love for animals including his numerous furry grandchildren.
Dad, we will love you and miss you always until we meet again. “Love you more…”

June 10, 2023 at 6:02 pmCraig was one of the funniest, kindest people I’ve ever met. I remember visiting from Winnipeg as a child and he was the hilarious older cousin that ALWAYS made me laugh. He was about 10 years older than me and always so kind. I always smile when I think of him. My condolences to his family.
