January 2nd, 1957 – June 9th, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of Mary Besyk announces the unexpected passing of their wife, mother, sister and grandma on Friday, June 9th, 2023.

She loved cutting grass, gardening, really any yard work, puzzles, cooking for her family, watching a good comedy on TV and most recently partaking in chair yoga with Helen. Mary also loved spending time with her daughter Jennifer and family, whether it was to meet for a bite to eat or time at the park, or a quiet afternoon at the house.

Mary met her best friend Brian Besyk in 2003 and they married in 2008. Mary and Brian loved to travel and enjoyed time together visiting their children and grandchildren including several trips to Regina to visit Maverick and Briar. Mary was Brian’s number one companion when he drove truck to various places around Northern Ontario and Manitoba. In 2012, she went to Boston with Brian and her son Matthew to watch the Red Sox’s play, have a cold one a Cheers (where everyone knows your name). Mary and Brian also went on an Alaskan cruise with her sister Helen and her husband Jim. Mary and Brian have also enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and most recently a trip to Vancouver to see her favourite artist Neil Diamond on his farewell tour, along with other various concerts.

Mary leaves behind her husband, Brian Besyk, her son Matthew Dueck (Laurie), her grandson Maverick and granddaughter Briar, her daughter Jennifer Wyder (Scott), her grandson Lachlan, stepdaughter Holly, stepson Rocky (Deanna).

She is survived by her sisters, Helen Romas (Jim), Lorraine Earle (Gary), Linda Smith, her sister-in-law Linda Sombrutski (Fred), Vicki Dorie (Dan), daughter Melissa and many loving family and friends.

She is predeceased by her parents Michael and Kathleen Polischuk, brothers Wayne, Ernie, Frank, sister Jean and granddaughter Millicent.

There are not enough words to describe how much you will be missed. You were such a hardworking, loving wife, mother, sister, and grandma whose life was cut way too short. We love you so much and will be deeply missed. You will forever be in our hearts.

A private family service will be held at the Dryden Community Funeral Home with interment taking place at a later date.
