In Loving Memory of…

Roy Donald Singleton

October 5, 1945 – January 1, 2026

With heavy hearts, the family announces the passing of Roy Donald Singleton, who entered into rest on January 1, 2026, at the age of 80.  Roy was born on October 5, 1945. He was a hardworking and dedicated man throughout his life. He was employed at the Hudson mill and about 20 years employed with CN Railway where he was known for his strong work ethic and leadership.  While his time with the railway was significant, Roy’s true passion and lifelong work was in the outdoors. He devoted many years to guiding continuing this work right up until his retirement. He was especially proud of the time he spent guiding at Anderson’s Camp and requested to help out at various other fishing camps in the Sioux Lookout area.  Roy had a deep love for the land and water. He cherished life on the lake and found peace in fishing, hunting, camping, and spending time outdoors.

These passions were not only his own, but ones he shared with his family, creating lasting memories of swimming, laughter, and time spent together in nature. In quieter moments, Roy could often be found playing his guitar and enjoying old country music, another source of joy throughout his life.

Roy was predeceased by his parents, Ida and Daniel Singleton, as well as all of his siblings: Jane, Lester, Fred, Allen, Norman, and Daisy.  He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Keith (Tara), Marty (Shanalee), Norman, Miles (Ally), Veronica (Dan), Lewis (Dyana), and Nathan (Serenity). He also leaves behind several cherished grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews whom he proudly claimed as his own.  Roy will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, his strong family ties, and the quiet, steady presence he brought to those around him. His legacy lives on through the stories shared, the lakes remembered, and the family he loved deeply.

A Celebration of Life will take place January 15th, 2026 at 11:00 A.M at Dryden Community Funeral Home. There will be a light luncheon to follow.

My deepest condolences to the family. Roy was a blessing in his short time at princess court. But I have known roy for years prior. I will always remember asking him how many kids he had and we would name them off together and than he would say but I think there is more but i dont know, there’s too many to count and he would laugh. He was always quick to agree and joke. May he rest in peace.

My sincere condolences to Roy’s family. I have many fond memories of Roy from the time he guided for us at Anderson’s Lodge. He was always looked up to by all of the new guides coming on for the knowledge and skills he loved to share with them. His customers were always treated with the best services he could offer, amazing shore lunches, and many, many secret spots! He was a cherished employee and friend and he will be greatly missed.

Sorry to hear about Roy’s passing. I spent a few days in the hospital with Roy last year. During those days we both enjoyed the conversations we had about growing up together in Sioux. It brought back a lot of memories for both of us. May he rest in peace.
