Ron passed away suddenly at the age of 46, in Winnipeg Manitoba on February 25, 2026.
He was born in Dryden Ontario on May 23, 1979 to Katherine Jane Carlson and Ronald John Booi. He had a great childhood surrounded by family.
He attended school in Red Lake Ontario, until the family moved to Vermilion Bay, Ontario in 1986. He then attended Lillian Berg School in Vermilion Bay and then Dryden High School and Red Lake District High School.
He worked at his grandfather’s (Ron C. H. Booi) tourist resort on Bowden Lake and later at his uncle and aunt’s (Jim and Tracy Booi) tourist camp on Trout Lake. He moved back to Vermilion Bay in 2002 and worked for Jack Rob at Arrow, as an equipment operator for a couple years. He and his family (Wife, Michelle nee Mineault, son, Austin and daughter Trinity) moved to Estevan Saskatchewan, where he worked in the oil patch with his good friend Kevin Lajoie. It was there that he made a commitment to the Lord. It was also where he got started in Industrial Insulating, getting his Red Seal in that trade, and what he worked at until the time of his death.
Ron was an avid outdoorsman, and collector of knives, swords and cowboy hats. He loved entertaining people, telling stories (some of them true) around the campfire or bonfire while out camping. He was partial to the Western genre, in his clothing, his choice of movies and was an avid reader of mostly western novels. Most of all he loved spending time with his friends and family.
Ronnie is survived by his children, Austin Mineault, Tristin Booi, Reagan Pattie and Grace Booi. His parents, Kathy Carlson and Ron J. Booi. His siblings Joey (Kristina) Booi and Kaylie (Charlie) Booi. His granddaughter, Riley Mineault. His grandmothers, Ardith Booi and Elvera Moncrief. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by his very good friend of many years Ange Chymy.
He was predeceased by his grandmother, Virginia Cook, his grandfather, Ron C. H. Booi, and his uncle, Lloyd Moncrief.
His love and humor will be missed by all. He has left this fallen world behind and has gone on to the Lord. May we meet again.
Cremation has taken place and a Funeral will take place on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 1 p.m. at the Vermilion Bay Lions Hall with Pastor Wayne Toews officiating. A luncheon will follow with burial at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Vermilion Bay Lions Club, PO Box 314, Vermilion Bay, ON P0V 2V0
