Norman Ames October 19, 1939 - August 31, 2021

It is with great sadness that the Ames family announce the passing of their father Norman Ames.

Norman is survived by his three sons; Pat Ames (Joanne), Darcy Ames and Shaun Ames, grandchildren; Erick (Kim) of Dryden, ON, Taylor Ames (Chelsee) of Brampton, ON, Thomas Trainer of Mississauga, ON, Chantasy Schmidt (David) of Dryden, ON and Lacey Schmidt of Smithers B.C, sister Sharon Moody (Neil) and many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Predeceased by wives; Marilyn Ames and Della Ames, father Samuel Ames, mother Laurie Ames, sister Eileen Davis and brother Arnold Ames.

Norman loved spending time with his family from dune buggy trips with the Moody’s when he was younger to fishing trips in the winter with his sons. One of Norman’s favourite things was being Santa Claus at Christmas around the area. Trapping was also an important part of Norman’s life.

36 years ago Norman embarked on a new chapter of his life when he joined AA. AA became one of his greatest passions where he spent 20 years in service. Norman made many lifelong friends which he enjoyed many cups of coffee with. He especially enjoyed coffee and outings with his best friend Denis Duseigne. He helped many people throughout his life in AA.

One of Norman’s closest friends was his neighbour Art Chartrand who not only helped Norman whenever he needed but Norman also loved sitting and chatting with him.

The last year and a half Norman needed home care. He enjoyed the homecare workers coming in and chatting. One home care worker stood out form the rest for Norman and he became good friends with Misty.

A Private Celebration of Life and Interment will be held at a later date.
