Brother Ed Savinac and brother-in-law Bob Armstrong. Great grandchildren Deserae and James Lemon and Samara Kressal, Hunter and Easton Doxsee. And numerous nieces and nephews. Plus, the extended Lemon Family.
Peggy grew up in Eton Rugby with her siblings.
Peggy’s heart belonged to her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and her dearest friends. Mom would do anything for us, even strangers on the street. If someone needed a hand mom was the first person to step in. She gave effortlessly.
Mom was a joker, and a serious card player. No one could be the red marbles but her. She spent many weekends down at the farm in Alcona playing cards with Bill and Judy. The stories that were told and the laughs they all shared gave us a lifetime of memories to hold in our hearts.
Mom worked for the Hudson Bay Company in Sioux Lookout as a receiver back in the 70’s. That’s where she met her husband, Dennis. They bought a little piece of heaven in Alcona starting a little hobby farm and settled there until the Dairy closed down and Dennis was transferred to Dryden. Mom was happy to move back home but sad to leave the home they built together. Dennis and Peggy bought a piece of property of 160acres on Richan Road. Over 30 years they put their heart into fixing up the house and yard. Mom loved her flowers and her garden. She sure had a green thumb. Mom loved to cook and make fresh bread and cinnamon buns. They were always a huge hit along with her potato salad, no one ever left empty handed. Mom enjoyed many years of camping and fishing.
Mom had a special way with animals, they all gravitated to her. She fed the strays, and at times adopted them. Tess, Luna and Brody were her babies, even took the grand dogs for the weekends.
Mom loved her music and danced her jig to any song that would come on. Mom, we hope you’re dancing in heaven, please save a dance for us.
The Halverson family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Cook for being moms doctor over the years. Mom thought the world of him. Thank you to Dr. Wilson and again to Dr. Cook for their compassion during moms passing. To the amazing nurses that cared for mom. To Denise Savinac who not only was Peggy’s niece, but who kept us all fed and stayed with us up at the hospital for support. To Judy and Bill Hindy, and Terry Habinski for making the trips from Sioux Lookout to see Mom and for their years of friendship. To Doris Soucie and Cathy Mittleholt whom were Mom’s best friends, lunch dates will never be the same. To Mom’s cousins, Ella and Bernice, thank you for the love you gave mom all her life and the visits to the hospital. You both were very special to her.
Please know that mom loved you all and had a special place in her heart for you. She was an amazing woman that was centred around family values. Her legacy will live on.
We love you, Mom.
