Bernice Anderson January 2, 1959 - January 5, 2023

With heavy hearts, the family announces the sudden passing of their beloved Bernice at the age of 64 at the Thunder Bay Health Science Centre.

Bernice was raised in Dryden, where she met her first love Martin at the young age of 16. They married a couple years later, with the births of their two boys to follow. Bernice and Martin built a life and businesses together, which carried on after Martin’s passing in 2008. Bernice became a staple in the community with her strength, dedication and generosity.

Bernice completed Martin’s dream of Anderson’s Homestead Golf Course with the help of Jason, Tylor, Jean, many family members and friends. Her hard work never went unnoticed and her drive never failed, these traits show in her sons today.

Bernice is survived by her partner Jean-Guy Nault, her sons Tylor (Roopy) Anderson, Jason (Rachelle) Anderson and her very loved grandchildren Ayva, Bennett and Ari Anderson. Bernice is also survived by her mother Dolores Saindon, brothers Ron (Evelyn) Saindon, Paul (Brenda) Saindon, Dan (Kelly) Saindon and sister Lise (Gord) McDonald. She is also survived by her sister in-law Janice (Bruce) Hutchison and Christine Denby along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Let’s not forget her best friend Della Mushsquash.

Bernice is predeceased by her first love Martin Anderson, her grandson Brayden Anderson and father Jean-Guy Saindon.

Bernice could be found toting the boys to hockey and being their number one fan, cheering them on from the crowd. They were her pride and joy. The Anderson home was always the place to be for the kids to hangout, making memories and getting into trouble. Tylor and Jason loved to play jokes on their mom while everyone else laughed along with them.

As the boys got older, Bernice’s family grew by two daughters-in-law,  who blessed her with grandchildren. It was then that her family was complete.

Bernice’s grandkids, Ayva and Bennett would walk across the field to visit her and it would immediately put a smile on her face. She loved when Ari would come so she could get the most snuggles in on his trips to Dryden. Each one of her grandkids have a special place in her heart, and with one innocent smile, they could get her to do anything they wanted.

6 years ago Bernice won the love lottery once again, when Jean became an important part of her life. They did everything together and without complaint he helped make her visions come to fruition. Over the last few weeks, his love for Bernice showed even more as he took on the roll of caregiver in her last days. The family is forever grateful for his love and care for Bernice.

Bernice was a loving and caring person with a bubbly personality that was well known in the community and will be missed by many.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. There will be a private service held at a later date.

Sincere condolences to the Anderson families and Jean Guy Nault. I only met her last November as I passed through Dryden to visit Louise Anderson gravesite. As we were family who had just met, I am saddened by her passing. Gone away to soon.
