Leo was born May 28, 1952, to Pete and Maggie Shabaquay. He had four brothers; Andrew, Victor, Charles, and Robert and three sisters; Martha, May and Diane.

Leo is also survived by cousins; Harriet, Sharon, Clarence and Kelly Cousins, nieces; Lynn, Laura, and Cathy, and nephews; Desmond, Darren, Peter, George, Derek, Bradley, Floyd, and Allan.

Leo attended the Wabigoon Day School in the community from grade 1-7 and on to Wabigoon Public School.

Leo worked hard all his life, cutting wood, cone picking, and ranked in the Best Category for being a rice picker and in blueberry picking.

Leo was a kind and generous person.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 11 a.m. at the Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation Community Hall.

A Traditional Service will follow on Thursday, November 17, 2022 at 11 a.m. with Elder Tom Favell officiating.

Internment will take place at the Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation Cemetery.

    Leo was an amazing guy he is going to be missed I knew Leo through my mom and he was like a grandpa to my daughter’s that got to meet him RIP Leo
