It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beautiful Joni Alexander on February 18, 2025. She was taken far too soon, after a tough, yet courageous battle with cancer. She fought so hard, right to the end, where her final, peaceful breath was taken with her family by her side.
Joni was born and raised in Dryden, ON. She attended elementary and high school in Dryden, and carried on working at Patricia Gardens, Canadian Tire, and then drove a school bus. This allowed her the time to raise her son.
Left to mourn is her husband of 44 years, Pat, her son Ryan (Kayla), her precious grand-dogs Blue, Getty and Darla, and her siblings Kevin (Krissy), Judy (Keith), and Gordie (Rose). She is also survived by two very special Aunts, Verle and Etta, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Joni was predeceased by her father Gordon, her father-in-law Gord, and her beloved uncle’s Keith, Harry, and Ray.
Joni was a fiercely loyal and private woman who devoted herself to her family. In her younger years, she enjoyed playing hockey, baseball, and curling.
In her later years, she found her love for golf. She could usually be found on a golf course anywhere between Dryden and Yuma, Arizona. She absolutely loved the game, and the time she spent with friends on the course.
Joni and Pat tried a few tropical vacations, and then found love in Arizona, where they purchased a winter home in Yuma. She spent most of the last 13 winters soaking in the heat. The climate, golf courses, and many wonderful friends were the reasons she always went south.
The family would like to thank the professional and compassionate staff at the DRHC (oncology and palliative care) nurses, cancer care nurses at TBRHSC, and her homecare nurse Laine. A very big thank you for the visits from her special golf friends.
As per Joni’s wishes, cremation has taken place, and a private interment will take place in the summer.
Should any of Joni’s family and friends like to make a donation in her memory, we would ask they be made to the Second Chance Pet Network, Box 343, Dryden, ON P8N 2Z1.
