It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of John Alexander Meyer on February 8, 2026.
Raised in Dryden, ON with sibling Lisa. John graduated from Dryden High School and furthered his education in Thunder Bay, ON, then Toronto, ON, becoming a licensed Electrician – Instrument Mechanic, proud to follow in his father’s footsteps. John enjoyed working many years at Dryden’s Pulp & Paper Mill. Due to some health issues in 2017, he was taking a leave of absence indefinitely.
John was known for his sense of humor, generosity, kindness, caring and compassionate nature. He had so much love for family, close friends, and his cat Stacey. John enjoyed travelling with his close school friends from Toronto. He loved fishing, music, wildlife, downhill skiing, and travelling to various parts of Canada.
John is survived by his father Klaas Meyer of Dryden, Lisa (Rob) Rezka, Aunts and Uncle John (Sandra) Meyer, Jane Somerton, cousins Diane (Adam) Campbell, David Meyer, Janine (John) Letwin of Thunder Bay, ON. Kathy (Brad) Smith of Colorado, USA. Jennifer (Maurice) Shumanski of Saskatchewan, Christopher Kitzan and Janelle Wright of Gatineau, Quebec, as well as many other relatives and friends.
He is predeceased by his Mother, Seida Meyer of Dryden, ON, Grandparents (Lilla), Grandparents (Meyer), Aunts and Uncles Sonja (Lawrence) Kitzan of Saskatoon, SK, and Wilho Ahola of Thunder Bay, ON.
John will be sadly missed by all, as God took you away from us, the most beautiful heart and soul, to rest in forever peace.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a Private Family Service will be held at a later date.

He was a sweet and gentle big boy, kind and generous, always ready to help where he could without expectations of grand acknowledgement. Your Aunt Jane always loved you deeply. A toast in John’s honour will be coming forth tonight as some of us ski boys get together.
John’s laugh and smile were infectious and a pleasure to be around.
Knowing John was feeling good about yourself and the life we live.
