Joan Hebert

September 7, 1945 – May 14, 2019

In loving memory of Joan Hebert of Vermilion Bay, ON, who passed away on May 14, 2019 at the age of 73.

Joan grew up in Winnipeg, MB and met the love of her life Andy while babysitting for her sister and his sister who were sisters in law. They were married in 1967. Their daughter Monique was born in 1968 and son Michel followed in 1969. After Michel was born, they moved to Lac Du Bonnet, MB where Andy grew up. After the kids started school, Joan worked at several schools over the years as a secretary. In the late 70’s, Andy’s work brought him to Vermilion Bay and when it became obvious he would be there for the long term, Joan and the kids followed in 1980. She remained there until her passing.

Before Andy passed away in 2004, he and Joan were regulars at the Village Corner, having coffee and catching up on news with friends and amazingly often meeting up with friends from Manitoba who just happened to be passing through. Joan was also an avid bingo player who won what seemed to be more than her share of games. She had a good luck troll that she used to give to her grandchildren to play with to “recharge”. After Andy’s passing, she became involved in the Happy-Go-Lucky Seniors Club. She went on short bus tours to various events and casino trips and she learned to quilt. She took pride in her beautiful handcrafted treasures and many friends and family were gifted bags, placemats and quilts.

Joan was predeceased by her parents, one brother and sister, her son Michel and her beloved husband Andy. She is survived by her daughter Monique (Dean) Cunningham, grandchildren Jennifer (John), David, Robert, Sheldon and her great grandson Jesse whom she loved to spend time with. Also left to mourn her passing are her sister Lorna (Rick) Magill, sisters in law Jeanine Chouinard, Henriette Hebert, Doris (Leonard) Byczek, Madeline Geller and brothers in law Claude Hebert and Michael (Joann) Hebert.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will take place at a later date.

Interment will take place at a later date.
