Jeanette was born to overcome; her dad gave her a direct blood transfusion to survive. She was the only child in a poor farming family near Pangman, SK.
As a girl, she rocked her rooster to sleep, carried puppies in her arms, and rode ponies. Later, dogs and cats were pampered. She made friends everywhere. She was the Red Hat Society Queen in Hartney, MB. Her smiling face will be missed. So creative! She invented projects for Kids Club in Stoughton, SK and at Sunday Schools. She learned macrame, embraced scrapbooking, and knitted. She held many workplace roles. Sask. Power, Firestone, Stoughton Police secretary, Love Story Gifts, H&R Block.
At home, she was a wife to Mel for 58 years, and mother to Linda, Brent, and Brian. Jeanette was always ready to play games. She loved music – crooners, pop, country, and gospel quartets. Travelling equalled happiness. A Lake Louise trip with a girlfriend, family gatherings, and Hawaii cruise. Her camper, like home, was meticulously clean and organized; a welcome retreat. Her fate was to wander. She moved at least 10 times. She was overjoyed when she and Dad finally owned a home in Hartney, MB.
She was a gracious host. As a pastors wife, she entertained countless missionaries, singing groups, guest speakers, and families. The living room rang with laughter, and family visits were cherished. Her faith was deep, and thankfulness a recurring theme. Despite poor health, she remained positive, smiling until her last moment.
Jeanette’s final days were spent surrounded by loving family, and the compassionate team at the Dryden Regional Health Centre.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family graveside will take place at a later date in Souris, Manitoba.
In lieu of flowers and donations, spend time with loved ones…
