James Croom April 19, 1945 - October 31, 2023

Date of Funeral

November 4, 2023

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew and friend, James Croom. James passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023, at the age of 78 years.

James was born on April 19, 1945, to parents Albert and Viola Croom. He was a graduate of Cambrian College, where he earned his Heavy Equipment ticket and went on to accomplish his bus, coach, automotive and truck and trailer certifications.

One of James’ most cherished passions was his love for the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed curling and achieved an 8 ender! He was a proud 39-year member of the Dryden Lions Club. James would help wherever he could but especially the food booth.

Friday nights were a special time for James as he would gather around a campfire with his close-knit group of friends, “the gang.” These evenings were filled with laughter, stories, and the crackling of the fire, where lifelong bonds were strengthened, and unforgettable moments were created.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 51 years, Lois Croom, children, Brandy-Lynn and Ryan (Jen), as well as his grandson Thaddeus. He also leaves behind his Aunt Pearl Croom, brothers-in-law Don Trembath, Ian MacLeod (Sheila), Rory (Cookie) MacLeod, and Cam (Lynn) McMillan, numerous nephews and one niece, as well as great nieces and nephews. He is also an honourary “Uncle Vince” to many. James was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Viola, sister Shirley Trembath, and brother Ralph.

A come and go tea will take place on Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home, where family and friends can come together to honor his memory and share stories of his remarkable life.
