Hugh Mason February 14, 1958 - March 30, 2023

At home surrounded by family, Hugh died the way he lived his life. On his own terms.

Hugh’s smile, laugh, the intelligence to engage in conversation on any topic. His quick wit, keen knack for any genre of music. His pure joy of loving and living is part of what made up this good man.

Loving husband to Linnia, beloved son to Diane and Edgar Mason of Dryden, stepdad to Lhasaja (Blaine) of Victoria B.C., adoring grandpa to Kaiya also of Victoria B.C. Protective big brother to Doug Mason (Erin) of Kingston, ON, Sister Val McKeever (Tom) of Dryden. Brother-in-law to Jordon Railian (Susan) of Dryden, and Wendy Railian of Victoria B.C. Always interested uncle to Brett, Travis, Cody, Hilary and Celia. Great Uncle to the crew, Kahlyn, Ronin, Nolan, Claire, Wren, Perry and Wyatt.

The family would like to thank the clinical care staff at DRHC for their love, kindness and competence.

To Dr. Bester, Dr. Cook, Laine and Shar, thank you for providing Hugh with the respect and assistance he needed to leave as knowing he would feel no more pain.

“I saw the crescent. You saw the whole of the moon.”

A Celebration of Life will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at the family cottage, 165 Hill Road.

Family and friends are invited to gather to share stories and memories of life with Hugh.

Sincerest condolences to a special guy who was often the life of the room. Our families were good friends and all that remain feel a little empty without big Hugh. He will be missed by many.

Knowing Hugh was nothing but a positive experience and a privilege to be in his company.
You could always enjoy an intelligent, positive, educated conversation with Hugh on pretty well any subject that came up.
When we were all a lot younger, Hugh was the host of many enjoyable social events at the Camp on Wabigoon Lake that leave nothing but good memories.
Hugh will be missed by many but not forgotten.
Our thoughts are with all of the Family.

Linnea, Diane, Val I am so sorry to hear of Hugh’s passing. Hugh was a wonderful patient of mine when I worked up in Dryden. It is hard to believe that I have been gone these past 4 years but I am still tied to Dryden and its many wonderful people for which Hugh and all of you who I knew I still keep in my heart. Know that my thoughts are with you during this very difficult time and try to keep the memories alive in your heart. Love Tina

My condolences to the family. Hugh was one of the good ones. It amazes me that my memories of Hugh can bring a smile to my face and a lift to my heart that does away with all the years that have passed. For just a moment I am 18 again sharing so many laughs out at his camp.
He will truly be missed by many. Hugs to the family.

To the Family: We are off the grid as far as news of the world and family and did not hear about Hugh’s passing until contacted by Gena.. I did not really know Hugh having only seen him when he was a child but understand how the family must feel at his lose. We will have to stop at Dryden the next time we travel to lenora and visit with Dianne and Edgar.
