Glenda Berens September 15, 1975 - January 6, 2024

Date of Funeral

January 11, 2024

With heavy hearts we would like to announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Glenda Elaine Berens.  With her son Tornado Berens by her side, the lord called Glenda home at the age of 48.

Glenda leaves to mourn her husband Clifford Desjarlais and her six children; her oldest Berlene Berens, the oldest boy Richard Berens, Tornado Berens, Rodrick Berens, Titanice Berens and her youngest Nakitah Berens, and her nephews Nathan Mckay, Henry Mckay, Dusty Boulanger, baby Treysen and Hansen Berens who her children think of as a brother. She also leaves behind three grandchildren but will be meeting in the afterlife with one of her grandchildren Destry Berens. Leaving behind her sister Kristyn Berens, her uncles Richard (Scout) Berens and Conrad Bittern, and aunty Elaine Everett (Walter).

She was predeceased by her mother Audrey Izola Berens, her father Henry Arvin Mckay “Atcher”, her cousins Jennifer and Dean and many other close relatives.

She will be missed dearly by family and friends.

Glenda was born in Berens River First Nation, and throughout her life she was met with many challenges and hardships but always kept love for those around her.  She held the lord in her heart.

Glenda enjoyed listening to her music, many being the gospel songs her mother would listen to. She enjoyed her arts and crafts, always making photo frames for pictures she had of her family, always thinking of them, and wanting to do something to keep herself happy and those memories close.

She always held a special place in her heart for her cousins Glen Boulanger, Claude Boulanger, Charles Boulanger, and her favorite Uncle Scout Berens, as she loved listening to them sing and play their songs of gospel.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at 10 a.m. until time of service at the Dryden Community Funeral Home.

A Traditional Service will begin at 11 a.m.

Glenda will begin her journey home on Friday to Winnipeg, MB then on to rest at Berens River First Nation.
