Francois “Frank” Leonard June 5, 1945 - June 13, 2026

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Francois “Frank” Joseph Jean Paul Leonard, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose hard work, love of the outdoors, and quiet strength left a lasting impact on all who knew him.

Frank spent 45 years in Ignace, where he built a life rooted in family, community, and honest work. A lifelong miner, he dedicated his career to the mining industry, earning the respect of coworkers through his strong work ethic and dependable nature. Skilled with his hands, Frank was also a talented mechanic and woodworker who could fix or build just about anything.

Frank’s greatest joy was spending time at his beloved camp in the woods. Whether hunting, fishing, working on a project, or simply enjoying the peace and beauty of nature, he felt most at home surrounded by the outdoors he loved so much.

Family was at the center of Frank’s life. He shared 61 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, having married in 1965. Together they built a family filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Frank will be remembered for his craftsmanship, his dedication to his family, his love of the wilderness, and the wisdom and kindness he shared throughout his life. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the lessons he taught, and the memories that will be treasured forever.

He is survived by his loving wife for 61 years, Mary, sons Yvon and Eddy, 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, as well as siblings Maurice Leonard from Larder Lake, ON, and Diane Clermont from Timmins, ON.

As per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a small gathering will follow at the Senior’s Club in Ignace, ON.
