Edward (Ed) Jewett

January 06, 1936 – June 6, 2018

In loving memory of Ed Jewett, who passed away peacefully on June 6, 2018 at home with his loved ones by his side. Ed fought his battle with cancer every day. With his positive attitude and a smile always on his face he lived every day to the fullest. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten by his loving wife Linda of 55 years, his two daughters; Bonnie (Pete) Hatfield and Tammie (Carey) Basaraba, his 3 grandchildren; Tina (Adrian) Piche, Kevin Basaraba and Peter (Dawn) Hatfield, by his 7 great grandchildren; who he loved and spoiled everyday Zachary and Brennan Piche, Joshawa and Kaydance Hatfield and Zayne, Hudson and Hendrix Basaraba, by his sister Bes (Terry) Pastuck, brothers; Gordon (Sharon), Ben and Gary (Bobby). Ed lost many of his siblings over the years, his brothers; Lloyd, George and Lawrence and sisters; Lillian Turner and Margret Siegers.

Ed and Linda were united in marriage in 1962 in Kenora, ON where they started their family. They moved to Dryden then moved the family to Thunder Bay and started his own trucking business, Jewett’s Trucking, with his brother Lloyd. Years later they moved the family back to Dryden where Ed worked for Fred Marion’s contracting and then worked at the woodlands paper mill where he retired from. Ed’s hobbies were hunting, fishing, cutting firewood, or you could find him always tinkering in the garage. Whether it be working on his tractor, or one of his plow trucks, even if the work was needed on them or not. If you were helping Ed work on anything or just stopped by to chat, you knew there was always time for coffee and nanas homemade cookies!

Ed’s favorite place to go was to camp. It was to Godson Lake for years with all their friends and Ed’s great fires and the best tea you could ever find. Or it was to his and Linda’s camp that they made just a few short years ago. It was the family and friends gathering place and where his great grandkids loved to spend most of their time with them with a never ending supply of great homemade food and baking. This was Ed’s favorite place to play on his tractor. Whether it was skidding out trees to clear a path for the bell dish to work, or to be making roads into the other camp places, or to be fixing something on it weekly, this is what made Ed the happiest.

We will never forget every memory Papa. What you have taught your girls, your grandkids and even your great grandkids. Camp will always be Papa and Nana’s place to go!! May you be free of pain and reunite with your family and friends. We love you so much!

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.

A Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral home with Pastor Velma Henderson officiating.

Interment will take place at a later date.
