It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Donald Roy Pollard Sr., age 83 of Vermilion Bay, on the 21st of September 2022 at the Dryden Regional Health Centre with his family by his side.
Donald Sr. was born on April 11, 1939, in North Branch, ON to parents Joseph and Janette Pollard. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Pollard August 13, 1960, where they moved to Dryden and started their family, settling in Vermilion Bay to raise their three children. He enjoyed many hobbies; carpentry, fishing, hunting, and spending time at his cabin. Donald was a very gentle and kind-hearted man with a “sweet tooth”. He was a jack of all trades and always available to lend a helping hand. Family was his everything. Evelyn passed away in 2002 and Donald was blessed a few years later to find his love for a second time to Maria. In the last 17 years, they enjoyed spending time with family, travelling and many trips to South Beach. He was blessed to have so many special people in his life and we were blessed to have him in ours. We will miss him deeply and cherish our memories.
He is survived by his spouse of 17 years, Maria Knecht, his children Darrel (Jocelyne), Teri (Dennis), and adopted through love Ed Marion. Stepchildren through love, Fran and Nevin Nelson (Scott, Ryan and Danielle), Remo and Shelly (Ross, Jake, and Cory), Danny and Ali, and Paul and Sandy (Sheldon and Kelsey). Grandchildren Amy, Kevin, Yves, Michael, Melissa Smit (Steven), Christina (Darryl), and his step-grandchildren Tanjou, Lexie, Josh and C.C. Great grandchildren Ollie, Rayme, Max and Alex. He will be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was pre-deceased by his parents Joseph and Janette Pollard, brothers David, Laverne, Eugene Lawrence, Clifford, Gary, Clarence, Chancler and sisters Shirley and Helen, his son Donald Pollard Jr. and wife Evelyn Pollard.
