Edward Chartrand October 22, 1949 - September 20, 2022

Edward James Chartrand

October 22,1949 – September 20, 2022

There are a lot of things to be said about the life and legacy of Ed.

First and foremost he was a proud Father to his son Eddy, a Papa to his grandchild Illianna, Uncle Monster to his numerous Nieces and Nephews and Mr. Perfect to anyone else he could convince to call him by his chosen nickname.

Ed lived a quiet life in his later years, choosing to do the things he loved most such as watching Nascar in his favourite chair, or volunteering at The Indigenous Friendship Centre.

Ed always enjoyed poking fun at the little kids in his life, from joking with them on Christmas morning telling them their gifts were all his now, or getting them to eat their meal by calling himself Captain Vegetable.

Ed’s idea of a perfect day would be one in which he could simply sit in his favourite chair, watch Nascar, call his son on the phone, with a glass of whisky at his side and a big plate of Fish and Chips.

Ed is survived and, will be missed by his son Edward Chartrand (Heidi Gordon), his Grandchild Illianna Rumpel, Brother Stan Chartrand and Sister Maria Chartrand. His Nieces Brenda Roberts (Ryan Roberts), Jenny Zachman (Jeff Zachman), Rachel Doudiet, Lindsey Kempert and Nephews Richard Chartrand and Michael Thompson as well as numerous Great-Nieces and Great Nephews.

Ed was Predeceased by his parents Frank Chartrand and Orchid Holmes, brother Clarence Chartrand and sister Darlene Chartrand.

The family would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the Dryden Funeral Home and Dryden Indigenous Friendship Centre Team for all of their kindness, compassion and assistance during this incredibly difficult time.

Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration Of Life will be announced in the coming days.
