Donald Parent December 19, 1961 - February 7, 2025

On the evening of February 7, 2025, Donald “Don” Edward Parent passed away peacefully at the Dryden Regional Health Centre. Don was 63 years old.

Don (known by old-friends and family as Ed or Eddie) was born in Aurora, before moving to Georgetown, and then Cobalt where he would call home. He attended Cobalt High School before attending Northern College in Kirkland Lake for Electrical Technology. Returning home, Don moved from Sales at Radio Shack, to Assistant Manager and eventually asked to be Manager of the Timmins store. While in Timmins, Don followed his heart and moved west to Ignace for commercial printing sales work and finally relocated and planted roots in Dryden where he worked at MGM Electric (before forced to retire for health reasons) and began volunteering at the Hospital to give back when he could.

Don was a Venturer in Georgetown and stayed involved as a Scout Leader in Cobalt. He was forever a music fan that rocked himself to sleep, he loved the outdoors, had an affinity for technology and all things military, and deeply cared deeply for his cats (that have moved on to happy homes).

Though he had many friends near and far, he was most grateful for his friends and neighbors, the Kaus family (that were his family away from home). Don had many health challenges and other reasons to be bitter over the years, but despite it all, will always be remembered for his positive attitude, his gallows humor and optimism, his laughter, wit, and his kindness. He had a very big heart and cared so much for everybody in his life and always wished he could do more for them all. His spirit will live on in our hearts.

Don is preceded in death by his parents Donald Wallace Parent (of Argentite/Cobalt), Rosemary Margaret (Raftis) Parent (of Kenilworth), and will be sadly missed by his Step-family (late Donna, Wayne, James, and Ward Evans), Brothers Daniel James Parent (Gladys) of Brampton, and David Sean Parent (Melanie Schutt) of Greater Sudbury respectively, along with nieces and nephews Derek, Kelly, and Logan, his Aunts Joan (Raftis) Holloway and Thérèse (Parent) Thibeault, his many cousins, and also late Uncles (David Holloway, Ernest Thibeault, Léo and Raymond Parent).

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. As per his wishes, there will be no service.
