February 19, 1947 – January 13, 2023
It is with great sadness, our family announces the passing of Dixie Sharon Nickel February 19, 1947 at DRHC with her family by her side on January 13, 2023.
Dixie is survived by her daughter Michelle (Rudy), and her extended family, daughter Debbie, son Rene (Tuesday), Grandkids Darci (Kevin), Jace (Lizzy), Andrea (Jordan) and her great grandkids, Connor, Jackson, Cara, and Jedson.
Dixie is predeceased by her soul mate Rene Laderoute Sr, mother Bernice Smith, and father Richard Smith.
Dixie was born and raised in Emo, ON, she later moved to Fort Frances ON to attend High School, this is where she met her first love and later married.
In the early 1970’s she relocated to Dryden with her family, where she worked until retirement at Dingwall Medical group.
After her divorce Dixie was alone for several years until she met the love of her life and soul mate Rene Laderoute Sr, they enjoyed many years of camping and fishing together and had many laughs together. Dixie loved her family more than anything and loved to share and teach her recipes as she was an excellent cook. She worked hard in her garden every year and would spend hours canning her veggies and pickles. She was a kind woman with a big heart, but also could cuss with the best of them if needed.
She will be missed greatly, but we know she is at peace now and dancing in the stars with her love Rene.
