August 21, 2026

It is with great sadness that the family of David Brown announces his passing on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the DRHC with his family at his side.

Dave was born in Oil Springs, ON, on March 1, 1953, and grew up in Aylmer, ON. After graduating Sault College in 1974, he started his career in Fort Frances, ON with MNR where he met Janice and they married a year later. Moving to London, ON, he began a new career with the Ontario Hydro Forestry Division.

In 1985, moving the family to Dryden where he spent the rest of his life. Dave was a very caring and generous husband, father, and grandfather. Even on his last days, he was more concerned about how his family would cope without him. He never complained throughout his illness and always had a smile in his face when visitors came.

Dave loved the outdoors, gardening, and living on the lake, often sharing plants and trees with friends and neighbours

Dave leaves behind his wife Janice of 51 years, son Ryan (Stephanie), grandchildren Jonah and Maia, sister Darlene (Paul), in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews, he loved them all dearly.

He is predeceased by our daughter, Allison, parents Carmen and Muriel Brown, and in-laws Leo and Alice Brown.

Thank you to all the family and friends who visited and sat with Dave during his last days. Thank you to Dr. Cook and all the nurses and nursing students at the DRHC who cared for Dave in palliative care. You all were wonderful.

A Celebration of Life will take place at the Anglican Church with Alice Bloomfield officiating on Friday, August 21, 2026, at 11 a.m.

Sending our condolences, we enjoyed getting to know you both as neighbours over the past year. We especially appreciated Dave’s knowledge about the plants in our yard and the friendly conversation during yardwork. He will be missed.
