It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Charmaine Alicia Shaylin Barkman-Haines on November 30th 2025 at the age of 31.
Charmaine was born on November 25th 1994 in Sioux Lookout to Lorene (nee Sakakeep) and Charlie Barkman.
Charmaine (who everyone has known as Char) was raised in her home community Sachigo Lake First Nation. She was a dedicated, loving mother and wife to her son Kota and husband Brian. Char was a beautiful, radiant and funny individual who had a talent for arts and a passion for music with a personality larger than life. She was proud of her traditional and cultural values passed down to her. She will be deeply missed and cherished by her family and friends.
Charmaine is survived by her beloved son Kota and her husband Brian, parents; Charlie and Lorene Barkman, sisters; Tanya (Jeremiah), Leanne and Keyra (Darius), nieces;
Andrena and Aleeyah Beardy and Elora Barkman as well as numerous cousins, aunts and uncles.
Charmaine was predeceased by her grandparents; Richard and Greta Barkman, Agrippa and Madeline Sakakeep, niece; Brielle Brown, cousins; Harvey Barkman, Faith Kenequanash and Joshua Kenequanash, aunts; Josephine Sakakeep and Sadie Barkman, uncles; Doug, Eddie and Lloyd Sakakeep.
A Celebration of Life will take place December 12th, 2025 from 1:00 P.M – 2:45 P.M at the Dryden Community Funeral Home, officiated by Pastor Marcel Penner of Garage Church.
A Private viewing will be held prior to the service; friends and family are invited to arrive between 11:00 A.M and 12:30 P.M.
There will be a following burial at 3:00 P.M in The Dryden Cemetery.
