Catherine “Katie” Ann Knudsen (Kenney)

In loving memory of Catherine “Katie” Ann Knudsen (Kenney).  Katie passed away the morning of Friday, June 22, 2018 at the Dryden Regional Health Center surrounded by her family.

She was born March 15, 1946 in Windsor, ON to Mary and John Kenney.  She enjoyed her childhood with her 9 siblings.

In 1968 she married the love of her life, Karl Knudsen.  In 1970 they went on an adventure north to Dryden, ON to teach school.  Katie loved her career.  She had three children that brought her great joy.  Katie enjoyed being a mom and later in life enjoyed the excitement of being a grandma.  She enjoyed her lunch friends, cross country skiing, kayaking, camping, and nature.  She often said “It doesn’t get any better than this!” when outside.  She also liked her travels to Great Britain, Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, but Ireland was her favorite.

She is survived by husband Karl Knudsen, children Kerry Brosseau (Richard), Krista Genyk, and Colin Knudsen (Alexis), beloved grandchildren Kristian, Marissa, and Joella Brosseau, William, Erik, and Evan Genyk and Jaxson Hamilton, siblings John William Kenney (Peggy), David Edward Kenney (Matsy), Audrey Reaume, Jim Kenney, Irene Siu (Alfred), Kevin Kenney, Michael Kenney (Louise), her mother in law Dina Knudsen, brother in law Paul Knudsen and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her sister Patricia Ellen Best, brothers in law Larry Best and Frank Reaume, and parents John and Mary Kenney (Cragg).

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.

A Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 1 p.m. at the First United Church in Dryden, Ontario with Rev. Erin McIntyre and Alice Bloomfield officiating.

A Memorial Service with interment will take place in Windsor, Ontario at a later date.
