In loving memory of Andreas Buchholz age 93 who passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on September 5. 2026.
He was predeceased by his wife, Brigitte, on October 14, 2009.
Lovingly remembered by his daughter Ingrid Hupfauer (Karl), his granddaughter Sandra Hupfauer (Jonathon Parenteau), grandson Christopher Hupfauer (Sarah Madussi), his great-granddaughter Madelyn Parenteau, his great-grandson Dylan Parenteau, his sister Susi, brothers Stefan and Ference of Hungary, as well as many nieces and nephews in Hungary, Canada, and Germany.
Andreas was born in Egyhazaskozar, Hungary on April 17, 1933. There he went to school and later to work as a farm labourer. He left Hungary in 1956 to find a better life in Germany. He met his wife Brigitte in Ulm, Germany in July of 1957. Andreas and Brigitte got married in Ulm the year after on July 7, 1958. They welcomed their daughter Ingrid a year later on July 8, 1959.
While living in Germany Andreas worked as a bricklayer and later as a Crane operator. On July 27, 1983, Andreas and his wife Brigitte, daughter Ingrid, son-in-law Karl and granddaughter Sandra immigrated to Canada. Andreas started work that same year as a bricklayer. In his lifetime, he built three houses in Germany and his fourth house in Wabigoon, ON.
Andreas was also an avid gardener and was always very proud of his yellow pole beans. He would use the seeds and turn them into his famous Hungarian ham and bean soup, which will continue to be a family favourite.
Andreas also loved wood working, building many planters, swings, and wishing wells. He created numerous planters out of concrete and decorated them with rocks or seashells that he and his wife Brigitte collected from all over the place. Andreas and Brigitte loved the outdoors and spent many times bird hunting, fishing, blueberry, and mushroom picking. Andreas loved going on trips. He and his wife would travel to Europe, the US, Canada, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic. They also loved taking Casino trips together and Brigitte was always the lucky one.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Princess Court for their compassionate care and support during his stay.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Private Family Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
