It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Marg on February 26, 2024, after a very brief illness.
Marg was born in Portage LaPrarie, where she was raised on the family farm. She worked as a switch board operator until she met the love of her life Ben Yurkiw. Eventually they moved to Dryden and started their family, Marg was always fond of the Prairies.
Marg was very active in the community, heavily involved in the Ukrainian Hall, go getters club, meals on wheels and volunteered much time with the United Church.
Anyone who knew Marg knew she loved her garden and flowers and worked very hard to make it the amazing garden it was. She was an amazing cook and family dinners were always fantastic although her love for tomato aspic, was always a running joke. Marg baking was delicious.
Marg loved going on adventures with Ben, Tim Hortons for coffee, drive by her kids places and in the younger years camping at Aaron Park, Cooks Point and many trips. Hawaii having been her favorite.
She enjoyed time with her friends, playing cards or going for breakfasts.
Marg was a kind, and generous woman who helped anyone who needed it. She loved her family very much and her absence will be felt.
Marg was predeceased by her husband of 59 yrs Ben Yurkiw, her parents Helen and George Outhwaite and sister in law Caroline Yurkiw.
Marg is survived by her sons Don (Heather) Yurkiw of Dryden, ON, Brad (Vicki) Yurkiw of Dryden ON, granddaughter Hailey (Cam) Hoedl and great grand son Sunny of Dryden,ON, grandson Nolan Yurkiw of Thunder Bay, sister Elaine Emerson of Esterhazy and brother Albert Outhwaite (Juanita) of Oaklake MB as well as many nieces and nephews.

March 1, 2024 at 11:14 pmDon, Brad and families, my sincere sympathy to all of you at this sad time. I am so sorry for your loss. May your many wonderful memories be of comfort at this difficult time and a treasure in the years ahead. Don and Brad, like your Mom, I grew up in the MacGregor area and we worked together for some time in MacGregor as telephone operators. I have many fond memories of that time. Marg was a pleasure to work with and had a great sense of humour. We became good friends and our friendship continued after she left MacGregor and moved to Dryden. She will be dearly missed by you, her family, and her many friends. Hugs to you all.
