Leona Shabaquay October 27, 1961 - April 27, 2020

In memory of Leona Shabaquay who passed away on Monday, April 27, 2020 at the age of 58.

Leona is survived by her children; Brenda (Terrie) Desmoulin of Coboconk, ON, Brian Desmoulin of Sault St. Marie, ON and Jodi Maw of Alberta, grandchildren; Brynna Desmoulin of Fort McMurray, AB, Deidra Desmoulin of Sault St. Marie, ON, Elliott Desmoulin of Coboconk, ON and Jorja Desmoulin of Coboconk, ON, siblings; Harriet Shabaquay, Sharon Shabaquay (Leslie Gardner) and Clarence (Jackie) Shabaquay all of Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation, ON, numerous nieces and nephews and many, many friends.

Leona is predeceased by her partner Doug Brannan in 2017, siblings; Stanley Shabaquay, Keith Shabaquay and Lawerence Shabaquay and her parents Harry and Clara Shabaquay.

Leona enjoyed doing bead work, playing the dice game, 10 thousand, playing radio bingo on Thursdays and going to bingo at the W.L.O.N community centre. She also enjoyed her family and friends. She would always remember their birthdays by calling or sending a card. Leona loved her cat Cuddles. Those who have seen Cuddles knew how much she cared for him.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 from 12 p.m. until Thursday, April 30, 2020 at 11 a.m. at the Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation Community Centre and on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at 12 p.m. until time of service at the Dryden Community Funeral Home.

A Traditional Service will take place on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at 2 p.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home with Pastor Velma Henderson officiating.

Cremation will follow and interment will take place at a later date.
