It is with deep sorrow that we announced the peaceful passing of our beloved Wenceslao Ayong Sr. at the Dryden Regional Health Centre on June 21, 2025 surrounded by family.
Wenceslao is survived by his wife of 72 years, Flora Ayong, 10 children (Estrella, Leonida and Julius lives in Dryden while the other 7 are in the Philippines), as well as 86 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Born and raised in Calbayog City, Samar, Philippines, he moved to Dryden in June of 2002 with his wife and youngest son Julius. Wenceslao worked at Tamarac, Pizzeria, Kuppers, Husky, and lastly at Walmart where he spent 9 years until he retired. After his retirement, he and his wife would go back home to the Philippines during the winter and come back to Canada during the summer. He always loved to host family gatherings where he could cook for everyone and just enjoy the moment of togetherness and laughter. He was a great provider to his family and well loved by those who knew him.
His viewing will be held at the Dryden Community Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 25, 2025 from 3-6 pm. A Celebration of Life will follow on Thursday, June 26, 2025 at 1 pm.
