In loving memory of Victor Wice, who passed away peacefully at the Dryden Regional Health Centre surrounded by family.
Vic was a humble country man, growing up and living in rural Dryden until he moved to the city almost three years ago.
He was predeceased by his father Ceathbert, mother Rose, sister Myrna, brother George, Judy’s parents Henry and Matie Felske and other relatives.
Vic is survived by his wife of 60 years Judith, son Alan(Suzanne), daughter Janice(David), grandchildren Andy, Ashley(Stephen), Justin, Tyler(Kitah), Sarah(Anshul), Duncan and Joel.
Vic met the love of his life, Judy at a country hall dance and they were married on June 20, 1964.
He was the rock of the family, always supporting and celebrating his children’s and grandchildren’s talents, dreams and achievements.
He attended Britton School and Dryden High School. As a teenager he worked in carpentry with his Grandfather Emerson Wice and Ted Rask. He was briefly employed with the Town of Dryden before working 40+ years at the Dryden paper mill in the accounting and stores departments. He retired in the fall of 2003.
He was known as a ‘Prince of a Man.’ When not working he shared his time and talents with others. He enjoyed countless hours ‘puttering’ in his garage to repair and repurpose many things. His grandchildren received many bicycles built from recycled parts.
In later years he often watched movies or played records and videos of old time country and western music. His father was a musician and while Vic may not have played any musical instruments he could spin a few good records.
His Christian service involved 40 years as Treasurer for Our Saviour Lutheran parish, Treasurer of Native Ministries, many years as Treasurer for Grace Haven Lutheran Community Care Centre, and President of the Dryden Chapter of the Canadian Bible Society.
We miss sharing hugs with our loving husband, father and grandfather, hearing his stories and receiving his good natured teasing. Vic’s strong faith sustained him through the joys and trials of life. God called him to his eternal home and we look forward to being reunited with him there.
Vic’s family is thankful for the health teams’ for their care and all of the Pastors over the years for sharing their ministry and friendship with him.
