Ronnie Legault April 16, 1953 - April 14, 2022

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Ron Legault, whose battle with a   glioblastoma brain tumour is now over.  Ron had a close connection to his dad Albert Legault, who predeceased him in June 2002.  He will be lovingly remembered by his mother Gertie Legault, sisters Elaine Wetelainen (Frank Jr), Barb Avanthey (Gabby) and Darlene Miron (Bruce).  He was a favourite uncle to Cheryl Wetelainen, Nicole Aben, Christopher Avanthey, Ariel and Emily Miron.  Ron’s great-nieces and great-nephews: Megan, Hunter, Oliver, Lucie, Natalie, Amelia and Gabe were drawn to this kind, gentle man with a ready smile.

His passing is a deep loss to his special hunting and fishing buddies, his Friday night  “Old Farts” group, his Green Acres  coffee shop cohorts, and the community of Wabigoon at large.

Ron was always ready to lend a hand if you were needing assistance, whether you were a stranger or a close friend.  He loved treasure hunting, especially for antiques and for him the quest for a story from an “old timer”, was just as precious as the items he purchased.  Everyone in the community knew that if you needed something, Ron was sure to have it, and he was willing to lend it for as long as you needed it.  His integrity and huge heart was an inspiration to all of us.

Our family would like to express our gratitude to those special people in Ron’s life, who provided care and comfort during his time of illness.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life will be held at the Wabigoon Hall in July 2022.

I was deeply saddened to hear that Ron passed away. Growing up in Wabigoon I have such fond memories of Ron. He was so warm and kind and always had a smile for everyone. The last time I saw Ron was at the Wabigoon school reunion. It was great to see him and chat. My deepest condolences to his family and friends.
