It is with heavy hearts and great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved son, father, life partner, brother, uncle, cousin, and nephew Ronald Simon Panacheese, of Mishkeegogamang First Nation, who passed away peacefully on March 12, 2022, at 8:36am with his mother, sister, mother-in-law, and auntie by his side, at the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital, at the age of 34 years old.

Ronnie is survived by his parents; Ginger Panacheese and Gary Tait, his mother-in-law Mouse. His love of his life, Victoria. His children; Gracie, Viola, and Kingston. His siblings; Maurissa, Terri, Cheralle, Delvin, Tia, Morley, Shane and Aaron. Nieces and nephews, who are too numerous to mention. His cousins whom he loved as brothers; Bruce, Brian, Joey, Christopher, Alexander, Apollo, Mike, and many more friends that were like family. He also loved Jamie, Johnathon, and Clayton. He will be missed by his aunts; Lilly, Candy, Rose, Cooky, Louisa, Delores and uncles; Moore, Bruce and Morley Tait.

Ronnie is predeceased by his grandparents Morris & Viola Panacheese, Patricia Tait, his brother Rico Tait, cousins Chopper, Kyle, Jeremy, Jackie Dawn, and Brendan. Including his great grandparents Margaret and Simon Panacheese, and John and Nora Jane Munroe and his stepfather Clarence Kelly.

Ronald was born in Winnipeg, MB. He lived in Sachigo Lake for most of his life. He loved the game of baseball and was a member of the “Blackies” for the Annual Baseball Tournaments that took place every August in Mishkeegogamang. He also loved drawing, writing lyrics, singing, playing slot machines and poker, playing volleyball where his team made the national championship of All-Ontario, and most of all hanging out and taking care of his family & friends. He also enjoyed pow-wows, fishing and rabbit snaring. Ronald was a very easy person to get along with. His laughter was contagious. He was the type of man who never left anyone behind. He loved his family with his whole heart. His children and partner were always his priority.

The family would like to thank the staff at Dryden Regional Health Centre, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences, Dryden Community Funeral Home, and Dryden Friendship Centre for all their hospitality.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 3 p.m. until time of service at the Dryden Community Funeral Home with a Christian Service at 7 p.m. with Pastor Velma Henderson officiating.

A Traditional Service will follow on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 12 noon with Elder Leonard Sky officiating.

Interment will follow in the Dryden Cemetery.
