Norman Robinson October 20, 1939 - June 3, 2025

Date of Funeral

June 7, 2025

On June 3rd, Norman John Robinson was freed from his earthly shackles and went to be with his Lord and Saviour.

Norm was born on October 20, 1939, grew up and raised his family in the Dryden area.  He met his dear wife, Jean, in Cobourg, Ontario.  They shared 61 loving years of marriage together, raising 4 children on a foundation of faith, a strong work ethic, and dedication.

Norm was predeceased by his parents, Phil & Gwen Robinson, brother Tom, sister Phylis, and numerous extended family members.  Norm is survived by his wife, Jean; sister, Connie; his children: Tim (Brandy), Cal (Mary), Dan, and Charla (Barry); grandchildren: Beth (Herman), Philip, Sara (Alain), Grace (Brennan), Jessie, Ryker, and Joella; and great-grandchildren: Margaret, Weston and Clark. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Norm spent his career at the Dryden pulp and paper mill starting as a labourer, transitioning into the accounting department, and ultimately, finding his niche in the purchasing department where he spent many years prior to retiring in 1995.  In addition, he and Jean became entrepreneurs in 1977, opening Robin Court Trailer Park with 6 mobile home lots. Over time they expanded the business to 17 lots, along with several rental properties.  Tim, Cal, and Dan were often called upon to help.  Cal especially spent countless hours working alongside Norm, and when Norm’s health began to decline, Cal took over operating the trailer park until it was sold.

Norm and Jean had a busy and fulfilling retirement including traveling together across Canada, to the Philippines, Isreal, Ireland, and the United Kingdom.

Norm loved people.  Nearly every Sunday for over 50 years, he would stand at the entrance to the church with a warm handshake and greeting for everyone who arrived.  He was always available to help, whether it was family, friends, or people passing through who needed assistance.

Norm lived for his family and loved being surrounded by all his children.  In his later years, he especially loved spending time with his 7 grandchildren, who cherish wonderful memories of picking apples, getting wood, riding on the 6 wheeler, sleep-overs at camp, and his trademark “Grandpa bread” which was eagerly anticipated at every visit.

The family would like to express our heartfelt thanks to the staff at Princess Court Long Term Care Home for their care and compassion to Norm and his family while he resided there.

A Viewing will take place on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 12:30 p.m. at the Emmanuel Baptist Church.

A Traditional Service will follow at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Jake Letkeman officiating. Interment to follow at the Dryden Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Emmanuel Baptist Church Missions Program (P.O. Box 102, Dryden, ON P8N 2Y7) or to the DECO Committee at Princess Court (Box 953, Dryden, ON  P8N 3E3) would be appreciated.
