In loving memory of Michael Sikora, 83, who passed away on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Southbridge Pinewood in Thunder Bay, with family by his side.
He is survived by his daughters Bernice Sikora (Keith) of Edmonton, Alberta, Sheila Sikora, of Thunder Bay, Ontario, his sister Lynne Forlin (George), and his brother Jerry Sikora (Angie), of Kelowna, British Columbia, as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Matthew and Queenie Sikora, and his sister Jennifer Pinette.
Dad was born in Dorking, England, and came to Canada in 1946, on the Queen Mary. He was raised in Dryden and lived in Dryden most of his life.
Dad worked as an electrician in the mill, then as a general contractor, and finally as a logger.
He loved spending time with his family. There were memorable camping and fishing trips at Amesdale and get togethers at his cabin on Thunder Lake for summer vacations or for birthday celebrations. Over the years, Dad made many trips to British Columbia and Alberta to spend time with his parents, his siblings and their families, and to visit us in Alberta.
He enjoyed dancing to both country and pop music. If Dad wasn’t working, he could be found reading newspapers and western novels or watching comedic or dramatic movies and television series.
Dad attended a lot of car and tractor shows and loved to collect, use, and tinker with heavy equipment (tractors, skidders, loaders). He also had great fondness for motorcycles dating back to his youth, taking trips across the country on them or short trips around northwestern Ontario.
Dad was known for his great sense of humour and unique imagination and used both to lift others up. He was a lot of fun, loved to laugh, and delighted in making others laugh.
Heartfelt thanks to the home care workers who cared for Dad in Dryden before he moved to Thunder Bay, as well as to the wonderful staff at Southbridge Pinewood who provided thoughtful, compassionate care to Dad during the last six months of his life.
Dad was deeply loved, is dearly missed, and will be forever in our hearts.
Per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 11 a.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home with Jamie Miller officiating. A luncheon will follow. Interment will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
