Maureen Beaucage July 13, 1940 - June 14, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maureen Beaucage in the early hours on June 14, 2024, at the Dryden Regional Health Centre a month shy of her 84th birthday.

She was predeceased by her parents William and Marion McElroy (DeRainville), daughter Jennifer-Anne Doering, son-in-law Charles Heather, and sister-in-law Patricia McElroy.

Maureen will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 65 years, Wilfred, daughters Denique Adams (Howard), Simone Beaucage-Heather, son-in-law Edmund Doering and brother Robert McElroy. Also left to mourn are her grandchildren, Sean (Christina), Courtney, Ashley, Jenna (Brett), Frances, Marcel and great grandchildren Sha-Lyn, Logan, Evelyn and Katie.

She grew up in Port Arthur in the family home on Clarkson Avenue and met the love of her life, Wilf. She was a young bride and stay-at-home mom but still managed to complete her grade 12 and enter the working world taking positions at St. Joseph’s Hospital and eventually working many years as a school secretary at E. Q. Jennings School.

Anyone who knew Maureen would have enduring memories of her creative spirit. She was an artist at heart and could work magic in any medium; cake decorating, cooking, painting, knitting, needle point and her real passion, quilting. Her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren have all been the recipients of the gift of a beautiful quilt designed and sewn by her. One of the most important gifts she gave was sharing her passions with her children, grandchildren and others. She was a natural teacher, and she was able to pass on these skills, leaving a lasting creative legacy.

As young parents, Wilf and Maureen became young empty nesters and therefore shared many adventures together. Most memorably riding on the back of a motorcycle with other enthusiasts in full leather with a custom painted helmet around the United States and Canada. When they grew weary of our cold, snowy winters they could be found in Arizona golfing, visiting markets in Mexico, and spending time with other snowbirds. Of course, Maureen would find time to visit every fabric shop searching for the perfect material to finish a new quilting project. Rumors are she worked in her mobile quilting room (aka a screened dining room tent).

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of the Dryden Regional Health Centre for the exceptional care and compassion they gave to Maureen and her family during her final days.

As per Maureen’s wishes, there will be no service as cremation has taken place.

Maureen wanted two things in life to marry Wilf and be a mother and she excelled at both wife and mother. Maureen was also a wonderful sister. You will be missed by all who knew you
