Mark Cederwall August 19, 1959 - July 17, 2023

Mark Harry Cederwall

August 19, 1959 – July 17, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, Mark H. Cederwall on July 17th, 2023 after living a long life with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 63.

He is survived by his three children: Jen, Dawn-Marie, and Kevin as well as his pride and joy; his beautiful grandchildren Theoden, Kayden, Zoey, Ryan, and Lana. Mark is also survived by his brothers Richard (Gale), Kenny (Colleen), and Warren (Pam).

Mark is predeceased by his loving parents Gordon and Elizabeth.

Dad had a long and successful career as an electrician, an electrical and instrumentation manager, and an electrical engineer in his working days.

In his retirement, he spent his time enjoying his hobbies and watching his favourites: NASCAR, the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Detroit Red Wings. He loved to golf, and travelled to Las Vegas annually to see Jimmy Johnson race and take in the sights.

He had a brilliant mind and a love for creating. Woodworking became a way to channel his creativity,  spending hours making unique pieces for his grandkids and to give as sentimental gifts. Dad also loved to customize his home and could make absolutely anything he put his mind to.  He was proud of his massive sports memorabilia collection that he curated for over 30 years and loved to show it off and talk with fellow collectors.

His grandkids were his world, his heart and soul. We know it was hard for him to leave them behind, and he is now watching over them all.

Mark has left behind a legacy that we will never forget. Rest peacefully dad, we love you.

Cremation has taken place and Mark will be interred in the Kenora Cemetery to join his parents.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date, to be announced.

I love you dad. I am sitting here still trying to process your passing. I stayed with you and held your hand until your last breath, and made sure you made it safely back to grandma and grandpa.

I know you are watching over us all, and I take solace in knowing you are no longer in pain.

Theoden visited you in your final days and made sure to give his papa a big hug and told you he loved you, I hope you heard him. He will miss his dear papa always.

I love you so much dad. Thank you for taking care of us, for always being there, and for being a good papa to Theoden. Until we see each other again ❤️

We are so sorry for your loss. Stood up with Mark at his wedding. He was a great guy, so gentle of spirit. Over the years we would touch base. It was so great to talk; he will be missed.

I came across some email exchanges between you and my dad. You were good friends to him and I know he valued your friendship ❤️

If you are able to make it to his celebration of life in Kenora on his birthday, you are more than welcome to come.

Our condolences to Mark’s family over his passing. He was the kindest person and would help out anyone. My husband worked with your dad at the Kenora Mill and your dad also did all the electrical work in our new house on Rabbit Lake Road.
    Rest in Peace Mark

So sad to hear of life long friend Mark Cederwall’s passing. I extend deepest sympathies to family and friends. Gosh…remembering back to those days when he and I would walk from “Aunt Julie’s” to Central school. Nice to have kept in touch through Facebook in recent years. Rest in Peace Mark.
