Grace Hamilton September 20, 1923 - July 19, 2023

In loving memory of Grace Hamilton, age 99 years, who passed away peacefully on July 19, 2023 at the Dryden Regional Health Centre with family by her side.

Grace will be forever loved and missed by sons Neil and John (Vivian), grandchildren Michael Hamilton (Lynda), Nick Hamilton (Karen), Susan Launder (Todd), Patti Spalding (Darcy), great grandchildren Jonathon, Amanda, Connor, Logan, Rachel, Charlie, Laura and Mason, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. Grace was predeceased by her parents Kell and Jean Findlay, husband Hugh, son Lewis, daughters in law Renee and Maxine, siblings Gordon Findlay, Elsie Henderson, Winnie Rowat, Norval Needham, Robert Findlay, and Betty Dwyer. Grace was also predeceased by many close friends who she held close in her heart.

Grace was born on September 20, 1923 in Watrous, Saskatchewan to Kell and Jean Findlay. The family moved to the Dryden area in 1924 and later moved to Oxdrift where she spent her childhood. She met Hughie, the love of her life, at a dance in Wabigoon. They were married in 1942 and spent 57 happy years together. They raised three boys at their family home on the Wabigoon River in Dryden where she resided into her 90’s.

Grace lead a very full life spending her time curling, skiing, doing yoga, and bowling. She was an active member of the United Church and UCW, as well as volunteering in the community. Grace was great at baking, gardening, sewing, and knitting. She loved to be in the kitchen, whether it be preparing dinners for family and friends, or baking and canning the fruits of Hughie’s gardening. Together Grace and Hugh enjoyed playing cards, attending dances, and hosting family from out of town. Many summers were spent travelling to see family near and far.

Family and friends were very important to Grace; she had a large social circle which kept her active and young for the majority of her 99 years.

The family would like to thank the staff at Patricia Gardens and Dryden Regional Health Centre for their care and compassion over the past few years.

A private family service will be held at a later date.

Burial will follow at the Dryden Cemetery.
