Maria “Mary” Bartniski June 25, 1932 - September 25, 2021

Our sadness is mixed with the joy of a wonderful, sometimes hard, but always very rich life well lived. Mary Angeline Bartniski, our dear wife, mother, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021 with her family by her side.

Mom was born on June 25, 1932 in Bathurst, New Brunswick. On July 4, 1953 she married our Dad, Joseph, and together they decided to move to Sprague, Manitoba where they resided for 66 years. It was there that Mom and Dad worked so hard to make ends meet and lovingly raise their ever growing family. After Dad’s passing Mom continued to live in Sprague, moving to Ignace for her final two years.

Besides working hard with Dad, Mom was a great gardener, a fantastic cook, and was well known for opening her heart and home to a large number of foster children over the years. Mom also enjoyed crafting, watching the animals, spending time with her family, and was passionate about the Christmas season, decorating early and celebrating every moment.

Mom was blessed with a very large family and is survived by her daughters Grace (Don), Rachel (Wendell), Mona (William), and many adopted and fostered children. She also leaves behind siblings, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. Mom was predeceased by her loving husband Joseph, her son Wayne, and other family members.

We will miss Mom very much but are so thankful to have had her as our mother. Her infectious laughter will be dearly missed as she was a pleasure to visit with and appreciative of every small thing that was done for her.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
