October 31, 1934 – May 23, 2019

Lynn Norris, born in Burris, Ontario, to the late Roy and Edith Norris, passed peacefully with loving family at his side, in the Dryden Regional Health Centre. Dear husband of the late Margaret Norris (née Jourdain), beloved father of Lila Duffy (Frank), Ray Norris, and Dan Norris (Betty Klassen), he was predeceased by his sons Darrell Lynn Norris, and David Arthur Norris, his sister Norma, his brothers Larry and Harold Norris, his sister Marjorie Neilson, and his beloved granddaughter, Kyrsten Norris. He is survived by his dear grandchildren Dr. Brenna Duffy, Aiden Duffy (Chris Panagiotopoulos), Nick Norris (Theresa Landon), Matt Norris (Ruth), Brittany Norris (Trevor Kavanaugh), Lennon Norris (Jessica), Orrin Cameron and twelve cherished great-grandchildren: Jerome, Cameron, Dominic, Takota, Scott, Kashia, Kole, Dexter, Lily, Kolton, Logan, and Brennan.

Lynn developed a tremendous work ethic when he was very young. He took great pride in the fact that at 13 years of age, he was a paid employee of the municipality of Burris. At the time, his father, Roy Norris had the contract to grade the roads and he purchased a brand new, 4-speed Ford tractor. Lynn was given the responsibility of driving the tractor, while his father managed the grader. Lynn soon learned that he’d been added to the payroll at the municipality. He received a cheque from them every time his father did.

Lynn worked for most of his productive years in the pulp and paper industry, in the Dryden region, in many roles as a truck driver and a heavy equipment operator. In his later years, he worked as supervisor at the Ministry of Transportation in Dinorwic, Ontario. Lynn always said the most fun time he had in his working life was with the Huckell family from Dinorwic. Lynn loved his work and he took great pride in it, too, and he even had dreams that he was still working, as recently as weeks ago.

Another great source of joy for Lynn was his great-grandchildren. He appreciated deeply the efforts made by family to bring them around to see him, and he would always tear up talking about the last visit.

Lynn and Margaret loved the time they spent with family and friends at fishing and hunting, initially at Bailey Lake. And later, when they realized a life-long dream by building two cabins at Avery Lake.

Lynn was a man of few words, but he had a great sense of humour, loved to laugh until he cried, and was a great storyteller. In his younger years, he played a mean guitar and he had a great singing voice. His rendition of “Penny Candy” will never be forgotten by anyone who was lucky enough to hear it.
