It is with deep sadness that the family of Laverne Joesef Gouliquer announces his passing on July 30th, 2025, in Dryden Ontario, at the age of 71.
Laverne was born on February 14, 1954 in Emo, Ontario, to the late Olive and Lawrence Gouliquer. He was a man of many passions, but his love for animals, both his own and those of others, was one of his defining traits. Laverne’s deep connection to animals brought him great joy.
Laverne had a special love for motorcycles, tractors, antiques, the Friday night meat draw, and spending numerous hours with his best buddy, Archie St. Goddard.
In his working years, Laverne was known for his dedication and hard work. He spent his early years at The Sapawe Mill, George Armstrong’s Construction as a mechanic/welder, many years as an independent truck driver in the bush, a welder at his Dryden Welding Shop, and in the mining industry between Ignace, Mussel White and Red Lake. His skilled hands and strong work ethic made him a trusted figure among colleagues, friends and surrounding communities.
Laverne is predeceased by his beloved pets Sam, Chanty, Chicklet and Wrigley. His parents Olive and Lawrence Gouliquer. Laverne is survived by his dog Tunis. His children Larry (Kelly), and Moe (Shawna). He was a proud grandfather to Cole (Reyhan) who brought him endless joy and pride, Jakeob, Owen. Wife Rhonda Gouliquer, Stepchildren Jennifer and Lindsay (Steve), and Step Grandchildren Theoren, Noah, Ryker and Riley.
Laverne is also survived by his siblings: Valerie (Gary), Rhonda (Terry), Larry (Jodi) and Jody, with whom he had a lifetime of memories some more than others. His special Nephew Paul as well as many other nieces and nephews.
His passing leaves a space that cannot be filled but his legacy of love, kindness and his passions will live on in all who had the privilege to know him. He will be deeply missed by all.
One last motorcycle ride will be held on Sept. 6th 2025 at 12 p.m. From Moe’s house, with a funeral to follow at the Dryden Community Funeral home Sept 6th, 2025 at 1:30 p.m.
