July 9, 1938 – March 30, 2019

On Saturday, March 30, 2019, John Withers, loving father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 80 years.

John was born on July 9, 1938 in Lindsay, Ontario. He moved to Dryden in 1965 where he worked as a proud member of the Ontario Provincial Police force until his retirement. During those years he raised two children, Donna and David, teaching them to love camping, fishing and sports – especially hockey. He coached minor league hockey and was an active member of the Ontario Provincial Police Association.  In both of those roles he demonstrated a passion for the game and the work that he loved. John is a dog lover and spent his final years caring for his constant and loyal companion “West”.

John is survived by his daughter Donna (David) Thompson and his son David (Candace). He will be lovingly remembered by his two grandchildren, Julia and Adam, who made him light up whenever they arrived for a visit.

John was predeceased by his mother Maisie, father Robert and brothers Robert and Donald.
