It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of John (Ian) Fults at the age of 81.
Born in Inverness, Scotland, he came to settle in Canada as a young boy with his twin brother and parents. Ian married Carolle in 1969 and started their family and future together. In 1972, they moved to Ignace where they remained while Ian worked and eventually retired from Mattabi mine.
His “go to work early and work hard” attitude got him the nickname of ‘Mad Dog’ to all who knew him. But, the softie at heart would welcome you in with his boisterous laugh and offer you a Labatt Blue before chatting about his Leafs or Jays.
Besides his family and fur babies, Ian loved hunting, fishing, golf, and morning coffee with friends. Trips to Cuba to have a good cigar, a beer on the beach, and maybe a few bikinis to look at (while Carolle would roll her eyes) also brought him joy.
He was predeceased by his parents Edward and Agnes, as well as his loving wife Carolle.
He leaves behind to remember him fondly: son Ron (Candace), grandkids Cameron, Kya (Dawson), son Ian, brother Austin (Margie), nieces Stephanie, Arlene, Corinne, and Rhonda.
Thank you to all the hard-working nurses, PSW’s and support staff at Princess Court. Your kindness for Dad’s six years there will never be forgotten.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Northern Critters, Box 1023, Ignace, ON P0T 1T0, or to any animal rescue would be appreciated.
