Peter & Jackie Mitchell

Loved ones of Peter and Jackie Mitchell are remembering them with heavy hearts as they announce their passing.  Peter passed away surrounded by family on December 2, 2018 after a short and courageous battle with cancer.  Jackie passed away suddenly on December 5, 2018 after a tragic house fire.  They leave behind their son Gary (Mindy) and daughter Brianne Smith (James), beloved granddaughter Evana, Peter’s brother Kevin Mitchell, Hamilton, ON and Jackie’s siblings; Dan (Nancy) Kaine, Saint Catherine’s, ON, Murielle (John) Browers, Burlington, ON and Patrick (Michele) Kaine, Burlington, ON.

Jackie and Peter had been “best friends” and married for more than 44 years. Born in Hamilton, they met while Jackie was working at the local A&W and served Peter. He kept asking her out on a date and she kept refusing him as she thought he was only 16 years old and too young for her.  Married in Hamilton, Peter had the opportunity to work in a mine in Pickle Lake, Ontario where they lived for about 4 years then settled in Dryden, Ontario when their son Gary was 2 years old and where Brianne was born 5 years later.  They were both very well known and loved in the community of Dryden.  Peter could be seen almost anywhere in town with his infectious smile working on commercial refrigerators.  Jackie had worked for the city of Dryden.

Peter had a passion for work as well as enjoyed his gambling get-a-ways to Vegas, while Jackie was a wonderful mother devoting herself to her children and in later years you could find her sitting on her deck reading away the summer afternoons.

There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 5 p.m. at the Mystic Grill, 5 Earl Ave., Dryden, ON

Interment will take place at a later date.
