It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Joanne Marie Mackenzie (nee Barbash), who passed away peacefully on October 31, 2026, with her boys by her side.
Joanne was born August 13, 1955, in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Joanne met John Mackenzie and they married and had their three boys, Matthew, Andrew, and Michael. John and Joanne separated but remained friends. Joanne was blessed with two grandchildren, Kaedyn and Evander.
Joanne is survived by her children, Matthew, Andrew (Jill), and Michael (Becky); grandchildren Kaedyn and Evander; her siblings Shirley; Bonnie (Dave), Alan (Heidi), Jane (Sam), nieces Jill and Ali, nephew Jeff, as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. Joanne will be dearly missed by her best friend, Angela Russell.
Joanne was predeceased by her parents Walter and Genevieve Barabash, sister Judy Calcott, brother Gary Barabash, brothers-in-law Ted Cole and David Calcott Sr.
Joanne’s family would like to express their gratitude to the Dryden Lions Club.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Friday, November 20, 2026, from 3–5 p.m. in the Sunset Hall at the Dryden Best Western. Friends and family are welcome to come and go as they please.
