Sadly, with heavy hearts, the family of Jean Vivian Dustin (nee Odahl) announce her passing, surrounded by family, on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the age of 64 at the Dryden Regional Health Centre.

Jean was born in Fort Frances on June 1, 1953, the youngest of three daughters to Stella and Oscar Odahl. She attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and Fort Frances High School. On November 30, 1990, she graduated from Regional Schools for Registered Nursing Assistants as an RPN and worked at Hogarth and Bethammi nursing homes in Thunder Bay, as well as several other healthcare positions in Thunder Bay and Dryden. She married Dewayne Dustin on October 30, 1970 in Fort Frances, and on September 17, 1976 they welcomed their son Jeffery into the world.

Jean spent her life caring for others right to the very end. She was a talented photographer and artist who enjoyed spending time creating arts and crafts with her beloved grandson, Cameron. Jean often surprised family and friends with small handcrafted gifts and poems she had written. She had a wonderful and quirky sense of humour and brought a smile to everyone’s face. No one was a stranger to her, they were only a friend she hadn’t met yet.

Jean is survived by her husband Dewayne, son Jeff (Joanne Petit), grandson Cameron. granddaughters Chantelle and Cassandra and several great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Elsie (Ralph) Sandford and Judy (Gary) Holden as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Oscar and Stella (Crawley) Odahl and her father-in-law and mother-in-law Herb and Elsie (Arnold) Dustin.

A Celebration of Jean’s life will take place on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at the Dryden Community Funeral Home’s Chapel with Father Alan Campeau officiating.

Interment will take place at a later date.
