Irene Davenport August 28, 1940 - January 20, 2023

It is with sorrow we announce the passing of Irene M. Lucienne Davenport (nee Jacob) on January 20th, 2023. She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years Wallace, children Nancy (Glen) and Kelvin (Rachelle), and grandchildren Alexis, Casey, and Andi.

Irene was born in Dupuy Quebec on August 28th 1940, and relocated to Sioux Lookout in her early twenties where her tenacity lead her to excel in learning a new language and adapting to life in a new province. Here she met her husband Wally, and living throughout Northwestern Ontario they welcomed their children before relocating to their permanent home in Ignace in 1970. One of Irene’s great passions was feeding people, not only her family, but in her role as the head cook for the JR camp for many years, supporting those fighting forest fires throughout the region, and baking and decorating cakes to celebrate life’s milestones. Irene was happiest when enjoying a meal with her family and guests around the table.

Our family would like to thank the staff at Princess Court in Dryden, ON for their exceptional care and compassion.

A private family gathering will be held at a later date as cremation has taken place

Never easy to lose your mother no matter how old you are and so difficult to lose your spouse. May all your wonderful memories help you through this difficult time. Hugs for each of you.
