Horst Lang, 82, of Dryden, Ontario, passed away peacefully on September 20th, 2024 with his family by his side

Born on May 30th, 1942, in Weissenburg, Germany, to Erna and Friedrich Lang. Horst immigrated to Canada with his parents in 1957, settling in Wabigoon, Ontario. It was in Dryden that he established his roots and grew his family.

In 1966, Horst married Lana, the love of his life, who survives him. He is also survived by Jana (Darren) Froome, and Erik (Adi) Lang. Grandchildren Janessa (Tyler), Krista (Logan), Emma and Kaden. Great granddaughters Lily, Jessa and Josie. His sister Grete Taylor (Tubac, Arizona), brother Gerhard Lang (Wabigoon, ON), sisters-in-law Ora (Dryden, ON), Vi (Dryden, ON), Marj, and Millie Lang (Wabigoon, ON), numerous nieces and nephews and cherished companion and loyal dog, Kip. Kip was more than a pet; she was Horst’s best friend, a constant presence by his side. Their days were filled with shared moments of joy and companionship, from checking on the chickens together to strolling around the property they both loved. Kip’s unwavering loyalty and love brought light and warmth to Horst’s life, creating memories that will forever be cherished. May their bond and the love they shared continue to live on in our hearts.

Horst was known for his hardworking nature, dedication, and determination. In 1974, after working with Clarence Pearson for many years he started his own construction business. The company flourished under his leadership and is well-established today. Now operated by his son Erik, he is continuing the family’s legacy of excellence in the construction industry.

When not working, Horst could be found enjoying the outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening. He was also passionate about woodworking, carving, painting, and in recent years had taken up raising chickens and ducks. His love for preserving foods, specially making jams, was well-known amongst family and friends. A family-oriented man, Horst always taught his children to stand tall, be proud, and know themselves in all situations. He supported his family through their many accomplishments and difficulties, leaving a lasting impact on their lives.

Horst Lang’s legacy of hard work, love for family, and passion for life will be remembered by all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished in the hearts of family and friends.

Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 11 a.m. at the Dryden Full Gospel Church with Pastor Velma Henderson officiating.

Interment will take place at a later date.
