Elvina Morton November 24, 1946 - April 7, 2023

Date of Funeral

April 14, 2023

Elvina Marie Morton was born in Huntsville, Ontario on November 24, 1946 to Ernest and Ethel Trainer.

She graduated with a nursing degree from the Toronto Western Hospital School of Nursing in 1968 and came to Dryden to start her career in the pediatric ward of the hospital.

Elvina was the beloved wife of Edward Morton since September 20, 1969.  They moved from town out to the Morton farm where she chose to be a full-time, stay at home mother and wife, raising their 3 sons in a loving home.  She enjoyed the quiet hobbies of gardening and berry picking.

As their sons grew, moved away and had families of their own, Elvina enjoyed visiting her family and grandchildren as often as possible.  Each family member and friend of Elvina’s knew she loved them deeply.

She was thankful for all thoughts and care towards her, but she always wanted to put the needs of others before herself.

At a young age Elvina committed her life to God and counted it a great privilege to love and serve Him with all her heart.

Her main joy was weekly fellowship meetings in their home and times spent with God’s servants, family, and friends.

Elvina’s deep faith in the living God brought great peace to her, especially in the months of declining health with cancer.

Elvina’s journey on this earth ended peacefully at the age of 76 on April 7, 2023.

Elvina was predeceased by her mother Ethel in 2006 and her father Ernest in 2012.

Elvina will be dearly missed by her husband Edward; sons Roger (Dawna) & their children Mikassa & Calista; Roland (Jan) & their children Jaden, Kidron, Ashlee, Alex, & Will; Gerald (Jayne) & their children Brie & Gavin; her siblings Eunice (Lyall) Byers; Norman Trainer; Eileen McCurdy; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 13, 2023 between 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. at the Dryden community Funeral Home.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 2 p.m. with Jack Reddekopp and Clayton Boyd officiating at the Dryden Community Funeral Home.

Dear Ed and “boys”, we were saddened to hear of your great loss. But knowing Elvina’s suffering the past while, there is comfort in accepting she is without pain and in peace at last. The years we lived so close by on Morton Road were special times, both of us raising young families and enjoying afternoon tea together when the children were not napping! Elvina was a special person, and there are many of us who will miss her. I am sorry we are still away and unable to be at her service, but we will certainly be thinking of all of you and holding you in our hearts.

Dear Ed and family, there are no words to adequately describe the sense of loss we feel when a loved one leaves, but we are so fortunate to have the comfort of a God and a Brother in our lives and the faith that we have that she has gone on to the reward that she lived for. Our thoughts are with you and may your trust in our living God keep and maintain you these days. Harold and Linda Hartin

Thoughts have gone your way often since I heard of Elvina’s illness and now her passing. May you Ed, experience the comfort of Heaven also your boys, wives & grandchildren. A wonderful comfort to know Elvina loved her home and family but most of all the things that matter most. She loved the ones who gathered in their home Sunday a.m. for fellowship . And a sincere welcome was always extended to the Ministry.
